Kyleigh's Weekend

Kyleigh spend the weekend with her dad and Noni.  Here are a few pictures.

Noni does a lot of bike riding and walking and when Kyleigh stays with her, she goes, too.  Note: It's been raining here in southern California lately.

The third grade classes at Kyleigh's school sang in church this morning and Noni was kind enough to bring Kyleigh so that she could participate.  Kyleigh's in the black dress and glasses.

Weekly Update - 2/27/2017

This little mermaid is the February circle for the Fantasy SAL by Durene Jones for Lakeside Needlecraft.  She's stitched as charted with the called for DMC floss on 25-count Lugana in Fairy Dance from Hand Dyed Fabrics by Stephanie.  This is one of my favorite circles so far.

Here is the progress to date on the whole project. (The color is better in the picture above.)

Happy Dance - Little Bear #2

Started: 2/18/2017
Finished: 2/21/2017

This is the second Little Bear ornament from the kit by Joan Elliott.  It's stitched on the white plastic canvas with the floss included in the kit.

I'm stitching this kit as part of the Christmas All Year Round SAL on Stitch Maynia.

Weekly Update - 2/20/2017

This week was a good stitchy week as I had two finishes (although both were fairly small).  I also started the second Little Bear Christmas ornament from Joan Elliott.
This is being stitched on white perforated plastic with the floss included in the kit.  It is being stitched for the Christmas All Year Round SAL at Stitch Maynia.

Two More Finishes

January Fairy
Started: 1/24/2017
Finished: 2/17/2017

This is the January Fairy from the Lily of the Valley Fairy Calendar chart book that came with the December 2016 Cross Stitcher magazine.

She is stitched on 25-count pewter Lugana with the called for DMC threads.  The only change I made was to leave off 2016 which was stitched in the stars on her headband as I plan to stitch all 12 and make them into a quilt and I don't know when that will happen.

Bounce House
Started: 2/17/2017
Finished: 2/18/2017

This is by Lucie Heaton in the Challenge Lucie section of Cross Stitch Crazy #184.

It is stitched on 14-count white Aida with the called for DMC threads except that I used 310 instead of 3799 which I couldn't find in my stash.

This is for Kyleigh's quilt and I chose it because she loves to play in bounce houses whenever possible.

Weekly Update - 2/13/2017

Other than the two finishes posted separately last week, I only stitched on one project.  That project was Big Trees.  It went from here:
To here:

As soon as I finish the last column, I'll be 1/4 of the way to a finish, but I think I'm going to put it up for awhile and work on something else.

Two Finishes

Started: 2/2/2017
Finished: 2/7/2017

This is Muriel, one of the Hocus Pocus Trilogy from Mill Hill.  She's stitched as charted on the tan perforated paper with the threads provided.  The only change is that I use two threads for the cross stitch instead of the three called for.  This is my February stitch for the Trick or Treating All Year Long SAL on Stitch Mania.

Started: 1/30/2017
Finished: 2/8/2017

This is from the Crazy Kids section titled Woodland Friends from an older issue of Cross Stitch Crazy.

It's stitched on white 14-count Aida with the called for DMC threads.  I did make a change though.  The flowers on the left were supposed to be stitched in grays, but I didn't like the gray so I changed them.

This will be going to WOCS as part of their Bunnies SAL.

Weekly Update - 2/6/2017

I worked on four pieces this week including three new starts.

Big Trees
I only stitched for one evening on this one, but I found and fixed the error in the first column.  I started this one for the Full Coverage on the Fifth SAL in Stitch Maynia, but I've also been stitching it on Thursdays.  Unfortunately, I completely forgot about stitching it on Sunday, the fifth of this month.  Last Monday it was here:
 Today, it is here:
Darth Vader
This is one of my new starts: Darth Vader (not sure of the actual name) from Natalineedlework.etsy.com I'm stitching this on 25-count Lugana in Twixt and Tween from Hand Dyed Fabrics by Stephanie. My daughter gave me the chart for my birthday and it will go back to her when completed since there are a couple of Star Wars fans at her house.  The fabric is much brighter in person.  Also, I'm working from right to left instead of right to left as I normally would.
Muriel
This is the second of my new starts.  It's Muriel from Mill Hill's Hocus Pocus Trilogy.  I stitched Mimi last month and it's being stitched for the Year Round Trick or Treating SAL in Stitch Mania.
Bunny
The last of my new starts is a bunny from Woodland Friends from the Crazy Kids section of an older issue of Cross Stitch Crazy.  I'm stitching this on 14-count white Aida with the called for DMC although I'm contemplating a color change on some of the flowers.  I stitched this on Tuesday while my granddaughter had her Vision Therapy session.

Recap of January
I stitched on eight projects in January, seven of them new starts with two finishes.  I also had three mini-finishes (the final border, December and January circles on the Fantasy SAL.

Happy Dance - Little Bear

Started: 1/17/2017
Finished: 1/29/2017

This is one of six Little Bear Ornaments from a kit by Joan Elliott.  It's stitched as charted on the white plastic canvas included.

The one issue I had is that I couldn't tell the three yellow DMC apart so I've substituted 725,726 and 727 from my stash.  There's also an unintentional customization in the ribbon, but I'd already backstitched that area and I think it looks okay so I'm leaving it.

This was stitched as part of the Christmas All Year Round SAL on Stitch Mania.

Weekly Update - 1/30/2017

Big Trees went from here:
to here:

There's an error at the bottom of the first column, but I can't find it so I'm working my way down the second column and I hope it will turn up when I get there.

I started the January Fairy from the World of Cross Stitching 2016 Lily of the Valley calendar on Tuesday with the intention of stitching on it while Kyleigh was at vision therapy.  It's being stitched on a piece of gray 25-count Lugana 2 over 2 with DMC threads.
I continued working on Winter Stained Glass which went from here:
to here:
It has now been abandoned.  In the process of frogging the berries and leaf at the bottom and the left border, I managed to cut a couple of threads.  I may or may not try to save the cardinal, but I do plan to stitch this again at some point.
