Weekly Update - Catch Up Post

I've decided to go back to doing a weekly update on my stitching since I'm working on bigger projects this year.

1/9/2017
Big Trees (worked on Thursday as part of the "Full Coverage on the Fifth" SAL with Stitch Maynia.  It's being stitched on 14-count Aida in Salt which was a Christmas present from my daughter.
Here's what it will look like when finished.
Mimi - This is from the Hocus Pocus Trilogy by  Mill Hill.  It's being stitched as charted with the materials from the kit.  This is being stitched as part of the "Year Long Trick or Treating" SAL on Stitch Maynia.
1/16/2017
Big Trees - no stitching this week
Mimi - just need to finish adding the orange beads

1/23/2017
Big Trees - I decided to stitch this on Thursdays as  well as on the fifth of the month so it would get done a little quicker.

Mimi - finish posted in a separate post
Little Bear #1 - kit by Joan Elliott.  This is being stitched for the "Christmas All Year Long" and the "Tour de Designer - Joan Elliott" SALs in Stitch Mania.  It's being stitched as charted with the materials in the kit.
Winter Stained Glass - from Ursula Michael.  This is being stitched on 25-count white Lugana with the called for DMC.  I'm stitching it for the "Whimsical Winter" SAL on Stitch Maynia.  This is a seasonal SAL with separate SALs for all four seasons.

Fantasy SAL Update - January

This time I finished the rest of the border (top right section) and then stitched the January circle, a cute unicorn.  I'm now finally caught up and can go onto other projects.  November is blank because I'm waiting to see what the July circle is; I may switch it with November because of the fireworks.
Here's a close up of January.
I stitched it as charted except that I left off the yellow stars and backstitching on the mane, because I didn't like the looks of it.  As a reminder, I'm stitching this on 25-count Fairy Dance from Hand Dyed Fabrics by Stephanie. It's now put away until next week when I'll receive the chart for the February circle.  Cupid, anyone?

Janice's New Car

On the evening of January 4th, Janice's car looked like this:

Yes, she was in an accident, in the rain, on her way home from work.  The other driver came through a left turn lane and tried to enter a driveway in front of her and then lied about what happened.  Fortunately, a witness came forward and backed up Janice's version of the accident.  Janice suffered some pain and bruising in her shoulder and chest from the seat belt's doing it's job, but is okay now.

The insurance totaled her car and sent her a settlement check.  Did you know that Toyota's really maintain their value?  Now her car looks like this:
It's the same as her old car only 12 years newer.  It's a dark blue/gray and has lots of bells and whistles.  I've had a chance to sit in it, but haven't ridden in it yet.

FMSC Packing Event

Over the weekend our church hosted a mobile packing event for Feed My Starving Children and Janice, Kyleigh and I did a two-hour shift.  Our shift packed about 25,000 meals in 118 cases feeding 69 children for an entire year.
All five shifts together packed about 127,000 meals in 590 cases feeding 348 children for one year.  Note our fashionable hair accessories.

Janice scooped two of the ingredients using a tablespoon and another lady scooped two other ingredients with a coffee cup.  Kyleigh's friend, Aubrey and her mom held the bags under a funnel and then weighed them and added/subtracted rice to meet a specified weight range.  Kyleigh and I were the bag sealers.  I placed the bag in the sealer and Kyleigh operated the sealer.   Kyleigh did switch off with Aubrey periodically because being a bag sealer was kind of boring for an eight year old.
If you have a chance to participate in one of these mobile packing events, go for it!

September

I've continued to stitch on the Fantasy SAL as my focus piece each day.   I'm not caught up yet, but I only have two more pages to do until the next circle is released.

November is blank because my husband didn't like the goblin and wants me to find something else to stitch there.  I'm going to stitch the rest of the circles first.
