Happy Dance - Daffodils

This is Daffodils, part of the Floral Fancies collection in the Cross Stitch Crazy Magazine #108 from February, 2008.

It's stitched on 14-count white Aida with DMC floss.

It's for the WOCS (World of Charity Stitching) flower quilt.  I noticed that I forgot to add my name and state so I'll do that before I package it up.

I started it on 2/15/2015 and completed it on 2/21/2015.

WIWO - 2/16/2015

After completing both Pooh and Piglet and the Star Quilt block, I pulled out another kitted up project, again for WOCS.  This time it's a daffodil square for the flower quilt.

Happy Dance - Pooh and Piglet

This cute square is from the World of Cross Stitching Magazine #189.  It's stitched on 16-count white Aida with the called for Anchor floss.

It is going to WOCS (World of Charity Stitching) for their cartoon quilt.

It was started on 2/1/2015 and completed tonight (2/14/2015).

It took a whole skein of floss plus some for Pooh's body and I discovered that my LNS (Needlepoints, Ltd.) was in the process of moving and not yet reopened so I had to place an order with 123Stitch, but it arrived today so it's now complete..

I made a couple of changes as well.  Pooh's eyes are cross stitches instead of french knots because the french knots looked too small.  Also the backstitching is not as called for; I followed the path of the stitching rather than the chart because the chart was way too complicated.

Happy Dance - Quilt Block Star

This is an Artiste Mini Cross Stitch Kit that I purchased at Hobby Lobby at Kyleigh's request. I decided to give it to her for Valentines Day so I took a little break from Pooh and Piglet and stitched it up for her.

It's stitched as called for with the floss and Aida included in the kit.  I started it on 2/10/2015 and completed it on 2/12/2015.

WIWO - 2/9/2015

I spent the whole week on Winnie the Pooh and this is a far as I got.

Before:

After:
His body took almost an entire skein of Anchor 311, so I went to my LNS to get another one and found an empty store.  I've since discovered that they've moved, but I ordered the skein from 123 Stitch.

Summer Jamboree

Today we visited the OC Family Summer Jamboree because Janice wanted to check out options for summer camps, etc.

Kyleigh had a lot of fun.  She made an electric circuit play Happy Birthday.  She also made the heart that's sitting on the table next to her.

She got an Elsa balloon and then when we went outside, she got to meet Anna and Elsa and get her picture taken.

She also got to practice her hockey skills.

We found several interesting prospects: Learning how to give a robot coded directions, creating an ebook and exploring some stories.  She also found out that she can take hockey classes for free.

BTW, she sang in church this morning so that's why she's all dressed up.

Crafting and Cookies

This morning started out with crafting and ended with delivering Girl Scout cookies.

First, we went to Home Depot, where Kyleigh received an apron, popcorn, water, a pin and a kit to build a Heart Box.   She hammered and nailed
 and painted.
 And displayed her finished project.
This is the first of these events that she's been to, but I'm sure it won't be the last.

Next we went to Michael's where she made a string heart, cutting and attaching and wrapping with yarn.

And while we were at Michael's, we purchased some flowers to go into the heart box.
That was the extent of the crafting, however we went to Ruby's for lunch to meet some friends of mine and deliver cookies and she got to build a convertible.

After Ruby's, we made two more cookie deliveries, the first to Dr. Demento.  This was the first time Kyleigh and I had met him.  At one point she and Devin disappeared and this is the reason.

Whale Watching Trip

Since I'm now retired, Kyleigh volunteered me to go whale watching with her first grade class.  We had a good time watching for whales (Kyleigh borrowed my sweatshirt).
even though it was really cold  (Kyleigh is the one on the left; I took back my sweatshirt because I was cold).

We saw a whale that we watched for about 1/2 hour,
some dolphins (but I didn't get any pictures of them as they were coming out from under the boat) and some sea lions.
After we got back to shore, we ate lunch and then played on the playground.  The most popular piece of equipment was this:

WIWO - 2/2/2015

Most of the week was spent on my Turtle Trot piece for Shared Crosses (sharedcrosses.com), but yesterday I started a piece for WOCS (World of Charity Stitching).  The theme is cartoons and I found this chart in the World of Cross Stitching #189.

Yes, it's Winnie the Pooh.  Piglet should also appear later this week.
