Happy Dance - File This

Started: 2/1/2024

Finished: 2/5/2024

Total Time: 10 hours and 57 minutes

This is File This from the art of Kats by Kelly, translated to cross stitch by Linda Connors of Calico Crossroads.

It's stitched as charted with the called for DMC on white 14-count Aida.  There are definitely some unintentional customizations in this project.

When we were going though some charts I wanted to list on eBay, my daughter saw this one and asked me to make it for her, because she has two others on the same theme and needed a third to complete her display.  She's taken it to try and find a frame that matches the others.

Happy Dance - Blow Bubbles

Started: Date Unknown

Finished: 3/23/2023

Total Stitching Time: 22 hours and 19  minutes

This is Blow Bubbles, a Dimensions kit from 2004.

It's stitched mostly as charted on 14-count light blue Aida with the provided floss.  There are a couple of unintentional customizations and I left off the french knots surrounding the bubbles since I didn't think they were needed.

When I started this many years ago, it was to give it to my daughter as a birthday gift.  Now, it's going to be a birthday gift for my granddaughter's 15th birthday the 31st of this month.  It still needs to be washed, pressed and framed though.

Started: 2/2/2023

Finished: 2/3/2023

Total Stitching Time: 3 hours and 35 minutes

This is part of the Technology section of the World of Cross Stitch #328.

It's stitched on a scrap of 14-count white Aida, but I modified both the colors and the layout.  The original design was laid out horizontally, but I changed it to a vertical layout so that it can be used as a bookmark.

It will be given to my granddaughter on her 15th birthday next month.

Happy Dance - Cat

Started: 01/16/2022

Finished: 01/26/2022

Total Time: 21 hours and 27 minutes

Cat is a DMC kit that I think was designed by Leslie Teare.

It's stitched as charted with the provided Aida and DMC floss.

It will be put into the hoop provided and given to my granddaughter for her birthday the end of March.  This was an impulse purchase that I planned to make for her for Christmas, but didn't even start it until this month.

Happy Dance - Love Coffee

Started: 5/11/2020
Continued Start: 7/6/2020
Finished: 7/15/2020
Stitching Time: 6 hours 53 minutes

Love Coffee is a Mill Hill I Love Charmed Ornament kit and was one of my Mill Hill Maynia starts.

It was stitched with the materials in the kit as charted except that I only used two strands of floss for the cross stitching.

This will be finished as a magnet and given to my daughter's best friend to thank her for her helpfulness over the past few months.

Happy Dance - American Star

Started: 5/6/2020
Finished: 6/4/2020
Stitching Time: 1 hour 54 minutes

This is the first completed Mill Hill project from this year's Stitch Maynia.  I chose to do it first because it was simple and would be a quick finish.

It was a fun stitch, but there are two unintentional customizations that I discovered too late to frog.

I'll be making this into a magnet and giving it to Kyleigh.

Happy Dance - Derpy Hooves

Started: 5/22/2020
Finished: 5/30/2020
Stitching Time: 11 hours

Derpy Hooves, one of the newer My Little Ponies was designed by Stitched Pixels.

It was stitched on 14-count white plastic canvas as charted with the called for DMC floss.

I stitched this for a friend's granddaughter for her seventh birthday in June, because this is her favorite My Little Pony.  The chart was provided to me by the grandma.  I'll be backing it with light purple felt and making it into an ornament.

Happy Dance - Snowman

Started: 11/23/2018
Finished: 11/27/2018

This is the last of the Maker's Holiday Crafts wooden ornament made for the Jo-Ann Stores that I'm doing at the moment, although I do have one more that I plan to stitch for myself later.

Again, this is stitched as charted with the materials in the kit except that I used two strands, but it called for three.  I tried adding a mouth, but I didn't like it any better than without the mouth so that got frogged.

This is for my granddaughter, Kyleigh.  She saw me stitching the stocking and asked to let her do one, too.  I had her start using three strands as called for, but I didn't like the way it looked, so after she left, I ripped it out and started over with two strands.  Since she's now discovered diamond painting, I don't think she'll mind too much.

Finished: 11/25/2018

This is another of the Maker's Holiday Crafts wooden ornament made for the Jo-Ann Stores. Again, this is stitched as charted with the materials in the kit except that I used two strands, but it called for three.

This will my son-in-law's Christmas ornament this year.

Happy Dance - Stocking

Started 11/22/2018
Finished: 11/23/2018

This is a Maker's Holiday Craft made for the Jo-Ann Stores.   We have a new Jo-Ann's nearby and Janice, Kyleigh and I went to check it out during the grand opening.   Janice saw this and asked me to make it for her for Christmas.  Since it was deeply discounted, I said "yes" and bought ones for Devin and Kyleigh, too.  (Kyleigh started the one for her, but has since moved on to Diamond Painting so I plan to finish it for her.)

It's stitched on the wood cut-out with the floss provided.  I used two strands, but it called for three.  Also, there was no color key so I had to go by the colored picture.   I'm still not sure I chose the right colors, but it does look like the picture.

Happy Dance - Let's Hug a Teacher

 Started: 3/21/2018
Finished: 5/1/2018

This is by Ursula Michael and is stitched on 14-count white Aida as charted with the called for DMC.

It will be framed and given to my granddaughter's fourth grade teacher on Monday for the beginning of Teacher Appreciation Week.  I work in the classroom on Monday mornings filing papers for the kids to take home and I've come to see him as a really good teacher.  I enjoy doing these word designs so it was a pleasure to do it for him.
