Finished: 2/3/2023

Total Stitching Time: 3 hours and 35 minutes

This is part of the Technology section of the World of Cross Stitch #328.

It's stitched on a scrap of 14-count white Aida, but I modified both the colors and the layout.  The original design was laid out horizontally, but I changed it to a vertical layout so that it can be used as a bookmark.

It will be given to my granddaughter on her 15th birthday next month.

Finished Quilts

Last year, I donated twelve squares for two different quilts to World of Charity Stitching.  They've now been made into quilts to be donated to senior care homes in either Florida or Arizona.

First is the Owls Quilt made of squares from Leslie Teare's free Owls SAL on Facebook.

The second quilt is made up of the monthly female Furry Tales pieces.

I'm sorry the pictures aren't better as I pulled them off their webpage, but you can see the individual squares in my blog.  Use the Labels: Furry Tales & Owl SAL.

Happy Dance - October Owl

Started: 7/18/2020
Finished: 8/2/2020
Stitching Time: 12 hours 49 minutes

This is the 10th owl in the 2019 series of free charts from Leslie Teare on Facebook.  The SAL is no longer free, but you can purchase the charts from her website.

It's stitched on Fiddlers Lite 14-count Aida as charted with the called for DMC.  Once all the owls are stitched, they will be sent to WOCS to be made into a quilt.

Next Up:  Rainbow Dash (My Little Pony)

Happy Dance - USA Mouse

Started: 7/1/2020
Finished: 7/7/2020
Stitching Time: 7 hours 44 minutes

This is another Furry Tales Mouse designed by Lucie Heaton and found in World of Cross Stitching #269.  It's stitched as charted on white 14-count Aida with the called for DMC.  Again, the frog visited and it took quite a bit of time to stitch her skirt.

The USA Mouse is the July mouse for my year long stitch of monthly themed Furry Tales and will be sent to WOCS (World of Charity Stitching) to be made into a quilt.

Stitching Time: 13 hours 36 minutes

This is the 8th owl in the series from Leslie Teare's 2019 Facebook SAL.

It's stitched on 14-count Fiddlers Lite Aida as charted with the called for DMC floss.

As with the other owls, it will be sent to World of Charity Stitching (WOCS) to be made into a quilt.

Happy Dance - Bride Mouse

Finished: 6/11/2020

This is another Furry Tales Mouse designed by Lucie Heaton and found in World of Cross Stitching #280.  It's stitched as charted on white 14-count Aida with the called for DMC.

The Bride Mouse is the June mouse for my year long stitch of monthly themed Furry Tales and will be sent to WOCS (World of Charity Stitching) to be made into a quilt.

Happy Dance - Cinco de Mayo Mouse

Started: 5/11/2020
Finished: 5/22/2020
Stitching Time: 9 hours 29 minutes

This is another Furry Tales Mouse designed by Lucie Heaton and found in World of Cross Stitching #254.  It's stitched mostly as charted on white 14-count Aida with the called for DMC, except that I couldn't find the 704 called for so I used 703 which is a slightly darker shade of green.

This project took quite a bit longer than the other mice since I had to do a lot of frogging, including ripping out her right arm and ear and noise maker.

Cinco de Mayo Mouse is the May mouse for my year long stitch of monthly themed Furry Tales and will be sent to WOCS (World of Charity Stitching) to be made into a quilt.

Next Up: Derpy Hooves (My Little Pony)

Happy Dance - Happy New Year Mouse

Started: 1/1/2020
Finished: 1/3/2020
6 hrs. 43 minutes

Furry Tales are small mice doing human things designed by Lucie Heaton and appear monthly in the World of Cross Stitching magazine.  This one was in issue #276.

It's stitched on 14-count white Aida as charted with the called for colors.  The yellow is Anchor and the rest are DMC.

The plan right now is to stitch one a month and send them to WOCS to be made into a quilt.  I have one for March and one for August(?) already stitched.

Next Up: Mill Hill Charmed Santa Face - St. Nicholas

Happy Dance - July Owl

Started: 7/27/2019
Finished: 8/1/2019

This is the July edition of Leslie Teare's free Owl SAL on Facebook.  It's stitched on Lite Oatmeal 14-count Aida with the called for threads.  The only change I made was to do the backstitching in 3799 instead of 310.  Oh, and the border was supposed to be stitched in 666.  I also believe that there is at least one unintentional customization, but it's minor and I didn't notice it until I was doing the border.

This will be donated to WOCS with the other owls, hopefully by the end of the year.  I'm very proud of myself for keeping up with this SAL.

Next Up: Palko Lap - August
Goal: Finish

Wednesday Update - 2/27/2019

I can hardly believe that it's Wednesday again, much less that March starts the day after tomorrow.  This wasn't the best stitchy week.  I only stitched for six out of the seven days and two of the stitchy days only lasted about 1/2 hour and only on one project.

First, I completed Part 4 of Anemone, the free blackwork SAL from Leslie Teare.

Next I did my week on Eagles, but didn't accomplish as much as I'd hoped because there was a lot of frogging involved.  I'm not quite back on track, but I think the error I found last night is fudge-able.  Now that I look at it though, I definitely got more accomplished than I thought.  The dark line of stitches hits the 1/4 mark for this piece.
As of 1/8/2019
As of 2/26/2019

I also worked on and completed my project for the Pink Flowers for a Senior Lady SAL at WOCS (World of Charity Stitching).  This is stitched on 14-count white Aida as charted.  I used the called for DMC except for the pinks which were 601, 602, 603 and 605.
Started: 2/16/2019  Finished 2/26/2019

My final project this week is the February Owl from Leslie Teare's Owl SAL that I started last night.

September Recap

I thought I did very little stitching during the month of September, but when I looked at my daily log, I'd stitched more than I thought.  I actually stitched 17 out of the 30 days of September.  I didn't make much progress on my large stitches though.  This is why there weren't any Wednesday WIP updates for the month of September.  I think I'm back on track, but I thought that at the beginning of September also.  I did have three finishes though:

Anniversary Flower
Started: 7/17/2018
Finished 9/21/2018

This was stitched for Q4OC for their 2018 Anniversary Flower SAL.  It was a free chart from Cross Stitching Guild (Michael Learner).  It is stitched on 14-count white Aida with DMC 602 and 604.

Coffee Is Always a Good Idea
Started: 8/7/2018
Finished: 9/2/2018

This was stitched for the  Coffee or Tea SAL on WOCS and came from Cross Stitch Crazy #245.  It's stitched on white 14-count Aida with mostly as charted with the called for threads.  I had a lot of problems stitching this one so there are some unintended customizations, one of which is that the top color in Coffee should have been the same color as IDEA.

I (heart) the USA
Started: 9/3/2018
Finished: 9/5/2018

This was also stitched for WOCS, for their Patriotic SAL.  The chart came from World of Cross Stitching #271.  It is again stitched on 14-count white Aida with the called for DMC.  The only change I made to this one was to add the word "the".

That makes 33 finishes so far this year.

I also stitched on Advent Animals #11, but discovered that I had made a mistake last time and all that has been done has to be frogged.  (This may be part of the reason I didn't stitch as much as usual--September was the month of the FROG.)

I'm not recapping my goals for August or September as both months were a dismal failure and I haven't made any goals for October.  I'm just going to stitch what calls to me.

Happy Dance - Dream Big

Started: 5/5/2018
Finished: 6/12/2018

This was an Artiste kit that I bought at Hobby Lobby.  It's stitched on 14-count white Aida from my stash.  I replaced the fabric because I stitched this for the Inspirational Sayings SAL at World of Charity Stitching and the fabric provided in the kit wasn't big enough.

It took so long to stitch (it's not really that hard or big), because I had to start over after doing the center and a couple of the petals.  At that point I was close to running out of two of the floss colors and still had a lot to do.  I couldn't find a conversion chart anywhere so I finally compared the floss to my DMC color guide and made the conversions myself.  I converted all of the colors just to be safe.

Happy Dance - Spring 2018

Started: 4/22/2018
Finished: 5/4/2018

This is called Grille-48-Biscornu and is a free chart that can be found here.

It was stitched on white 14-count Aida as charted with DMC 48, an old variegated color.  It was stitched for World of Charity Stitching for a SAL named Spring 2018.  We were given a list of pastel floss colors that we could choose from.

FFO'd Valentine Cards

I finished making the three valentine squares into cards this morning.  They're not perfect, but it's the first time I've done this.  I hope to do better next time.  These are going to the World of Charity Stitching group to be given to the elderly living in care homes.

Happy Dance - Be My Valentine

Started: 1/22/2018
Finished: 1/22/2018

I found this on the Small Town Stitching blog using Pinterest.  It's stitched with DMC 115 on a scrap of white 14-count Aida.

This is the final stitch for the Valentines Day Card SAL for WOCS.  I'm going this afternoon to get stuff to make the cards.

Happy Dance - Swirly Valentine

Started: 1/19/2018
Finished: 1/21/2018

I found this on the Cross Stitch Craze Blog using Pinterest.  It's one of 30 free hearts with various swirls, etc.  I added the "Be My Valentine" instead of enclosing the rest of the heart in backstitch.

It's stitched in DMC Variations (4200) on a scrap of white 14-count Aida.  It will be made into a Valentines Day card and sent to WOCS for their Valentines Card SAL.

Happy Dance - Love Bear

Started: 1/11/2018
Finished: 1/19/2018

This is part of a free chart that I found on Durene Jones Facebook page.

I only stitched the bear and heart and left off the background of white cloud hearts on a patchwork of blue and green squares.  Other than that, it's stitched as charted on a scrap of white 14-count Aida with DMC floss except for the eyes--I replaced the french knots with cross stitches.

This is going to be sent to WOCS for their Valentines Card Project.  I hope to have a couple more done by next weekend so I can go shopping for stuff to make it into a card.

Catch up Post - Miscellaneous Happy Dances

Ladybug Cow
Started: 4/22/2017
Finished: 4/24/2017

The pattern for this came from Silly Cows and was stitched for WOCS (World of Charity Stitching).  It's a fun theme that we've done several times through the years.
February Fairy
Started: 3/2/2017
Finished: 4/21/2017
March Fairy
Started: 4/25/2017
Finished: 5/16/2017
Both of these were stitched from the free Calendar from the December 2016 Cross Stitcher magazine.  The designer is Lily of the Valley and I plan to do all of them at some point.  Both are stitched on 25-count Lugana with the called for DMC.

Cardinal Hangup
Started: 5/22/2017
Finished: 6/4/2017
This is from Diane Arthurs (Imaginating).  It's stitched on 25-count white Lugana and will eventually be made into a banner.  I'm keeping this one!

Two Finishes

Started: 2/2/2017
Finished: 2/7/2017

This is Muriel, one of the Hocus Pocus Trilogy from Mill Hill.  She's stitched as charted on the tan perforated paper with the threads provided.  The only change is that I use two threads for the cross stitch instead of the three called for.  This is my February stitch for the Trick or Treating All Year Long SAL on Stitch Mania.

Started: 1/30/2017
Finished: 2/8/2017

This is from the Crazy Kids section titled Woodland Friends from an older issue of Cross Stitch Crazy.

It's stitched on white 14-count Aida with the called for DMC threads.  I did make a change though.  The flowers on the left were supposed to be stitched in grays, but I didn't like the gray so I changed them.

This will be going to WOCS as part of their Bunnies SAL.

Happy Dance - Diamond SAL

WOCS (World of Charity Stitching) is currently doing a SAL of the free diamond patterns by Connie Gee Designs  I stitched two of these for the SAL.

Started: 10/20/2016
Finished: 10/21/2016
Started: 10/21/2016
Finished: 10/22/2016

Both diamonds were stitched on 14-count white Aida.  Diamond 11 (the top one) was stitched with DMC 4245 and Diamond 12 with DMC 3840 and 701 for the tulip and 4022 for the borders.
