It's time for another fun blog hop from Jo at Serendipitous Stitching.  This time it's an Easter Egg Hunt where you hop among the participating blogs and keep track of the letters, which together spell an Easter/Spring related word. 

We're also supposed to show an Easter or Spring related stitch.  I have two.  The first is one I stitched back in 2017.

Secret Stitching Sweetheart Blog Hop - 2024

 Jo has again come through with another fun Blog Hop.  This time each participant emailed her a Valentine stitch.  In return, she emailed us each a different Valentine, but didn't tell us who had stitched it.  We're to post the valentine and the mystery stitcher will tell us who they are.  For more information and to see the rest of the valentines check out Jo's Blog.

2023 Advent Calendar Blog Hop

While I haven't posted since June, I did sign up for Jo's annual Advent Calendar Blog Hop and she assigned me Day 24.  We're supposed to post a picture of a Christmas-y stitched item and answer a question about our Santa stories and/or traditions.  You can check out  Jo's Blog for more information and to see all of the posts.

I love stitching Christmas ornaments and have many to show, but here are the Santa ones I've stitched this year.

All of these ornaments plus quite a few others (not made by me) will be delivered to the Ronald McDonald House in Orange, California.  If you'd like to stitch ornaments for this house, I've created a Facebook group called "Stitching for Families (RMHCSC).  Let me know if you're interested.

 As for the Santa Stories, I don't remember visiting Santa as a child, but I always took my daughter and then together we took my granddaughter to see Santa.

 Our only real tradition doesn't have to do specifically with Santa Claus.  Every year, the five of us set aside a night to look at Christmas lights (we do see a lot of Santas). This year we did it on the 19th and found a new-to-us neighborhood which we'll be returning to next year.

Question:  What's for Afters? I'd never heard of Afters, but Jo described it as dessert.  So, what's for dessert?   

We celebrate with a Christmas breakfast just before opening presents. It also works out better with everybody's schedules.  My husband makes his famous "Farmer's Omelet", which is fried potatoes, onions, diced ham, shredded cheese, eggs and green onions all mixed together in a skillet. 

Because it's breakfast, we don't serve afters, but my daughter usually has trays of cookies and candy strategically placed so many of those are consumed instead.

Advent Calendar Blog Hop 2021 - Day 21

Welcome to day 21 of the  Advent Calendar blog hop organized by Jo of Serendipitous Stitching. Each participant is given a day to share some Christmas Stitching and answer a question. Click on the link above  to view the individual days.

First up, some Christmas stitching.  These were stitched as part of Christmasits 2020.

 

The question this time is all about your Christmas tree.  

I order mine from a local high school baseball team.  Normally I order a 5-6 foot tree, but this year we ordered a 3-4 foot tree so we could set it on a table instead.  The tree usually arrives the first weekend in December and we set it up as soon as my daughter can visit to get the Christmas stuff out of the attic.  This year the tree went up on the third, but the lights didn't go on until the 10th. 

I use pretty much the same ornaments each year including any new ones that I stitched during the year.  Most of the ornaments are homemade, either by me, my daughter or one of my sisters.  I used to put an angel (again homemade) on top of the tree, but we didn't unpack that box this year so I used a star instead.

This is the reason we wanted a shorter tree.  Surprisingly, we haven't caught him there since we added the lights and ornaments have been added.

Online Advent Calendar Blog Hop - Day 21

Every year Jo facilitates an Advent Calendar Blog Hop where each participant is assigned a day to make a post showing something Christmas-y.  She also provides a conversation topic related to Christmas. This year's conversation topic is - Your Favourite Christmas Book

At first I though I  didn't really have one.  It was never a tradition growing up to read or re-read a Christmas book and I've never done that with my daughter either.  But as I was reading the other posts, it occurred to me that the story of Christ's birth and The Night Before Christmas are both favorites.  I also read a lot of Christmas stories, mostly Cozy Mysteries and Christian fiction, but there isn't one I'd consider a favorite.

I've always stitched a lot of Christmas ornaments throughout the year and this year was no exception, so I've chosen one of my favorites to share with you.
