Happy Dance - PJ Critters - Lion

Started: 12/30/2023

Finished: 1/23/24

Total Time: 43 hours and 32 minutes

This is the lion from the PJ Critters chart set by Cross Stitch Wonders.  It's stitched on 14-count Dew Printed Aida by Charles Craft and it was a great fabric to work on.  I used DMC from my stash and stitched it as charted except for a few unintentional customizations and some simplified backstitching since the called for backstitching split the Aida squares in places.

It has been mailed to Q4OC (Quilts for Older Children and Adults) and will be made into a quilt for a premature baby through the Angel Quilt Project.

This will be going back to Jeneen to be made into a quilt of similar butterflies.

Happy Dance - Derpy Hooves

Started: 5/22/2020
Finished: 5/30/2020
Stitching Time: 11 hours

Derpy Hooves, one of the newer My Little Ponies was designed by Stitched Pixels.

It was stitched on 14-count white plastic canvas as charted with the called for DMC floss.

I stitched this for a friend's granddaughter for her seventh birthday in June, because this is her favorite My Little Pony.  The chart was provided to me by the grandma.  I'll be backing it with light purple felt and making it into an ornament.

Happy Dance - The Royals AND Peppermint Purple Update

Started: 4/20/2020
Finished: 5/29/2020
Stitching Time: 24 hours and 51 minutes

Jasmine and Aladdin are part of The Royals SAL at Q4OC (Quilts for Older Children and Adults).  The chart was provided by Jeneen, the group owner.  This is one of the three projects needed to complete the 2020 Stitcher''s Challenge.  It's also the chart I used for the 30-Minute-A-Day SAL for May.

It's stitched on 14-count white Aida as charted with the called for DMC.  It will eventually be sent to Q4OC to be added to a quilt.

Next Up: Picachu

For Week 22 of the Peppermint Purple Year Long SAL, I used DMC Variations 4047 again.  It's a double square, but it was very intuitive so I didn't have to keep looking at the chart .
It took 1 hour and 27 minutes to complete.

End of Rotation - The Royals

The Royals is a SAL on the Q4OC (Quilts for Older Children and Adults) Facebook page and is one of the 2020 Stitcher's Challenge projects.  I'm stitching it as charted on 14-count white Aida with the called for DMC.  My contribution is Jasmine and Aladdin and this picture is after 10 hours.  I'm amazed at how fast this is stitching up!

Next up: My Pad (from Mill Hill)

A Finished Quilt and a New SAL

I've posted before that some of my stitching goes to charity stitching groups to be made into quilts.  I stitched this little dog for a SAL with Quilts for Older Children and Adults  (Q4OC).
I thought you might like to see the quilt is was used on.
Bottom portion showing my square
The whole quilt

I've also joined a new SAL from Peppermint Purple on Facebook.  It's a 52-part blackwork SAL that comes out every Wednesday and can be found here.
This is the first part.  The SAL will be done on 14-count white Aida and this part is done in DMC Variations 4022.  I originally intended to do it all in this color, but now I'm thinking of doing each block in a different DMC Variations or maybe alternating several colors.

Happy Dance - Festive Kitten

Started: 9/17/2019
Finished: 9/19/2019

This was a free chart from a World of Cross Stitching magazine, but I don't know which issue.  I believe it was part of a booklet called Festive Friends.

It's stitched on Silver Dusted 14-count Aida as charted except for the backstitching which is the partial stitch kind and was modified to use mostly whole stitches.  I also changed all the colors as it was charted for the provided Madeira threads in red and green that I no longer had.  The scarf and lettering were done with Etoile threads 816 and 699.  The square is much brighter in person.

This has already been sent to Q4OC to be made into a Christmas Ornament and used for a fundraiser for a no-kill animal sanctuary.

End of Rotation - Fox Magic Doll

It took me over two weeks to get in 10 hours on the Fox Magic Doll that I'm stitching for Q40C, but I finally did it.
As of 6/15/2019

The color is truer in the first picture.  This is being stitched on white 14-count Aida with the called for DMC.  The backstitch has been modified some, because it's the fussy kind that uses partial stitches.

It will be going to Q4OC for Love Quilts Brazil when completed.

Next Project in Rotation: Patchwork Teddy Bear (part of an Amanda Gregory nursery design)
Goal: 10 hours

Happy Dance - Black Cat - No It's not for Halloween

Started: 9/4/2019
Finished: 9/16/2019

This is a Christmas ornament that I stitched for Jeneen, the owner of Quilts for Older Children and Adults Facebook group.  She had hurt her wrist and asked for a volunteer to stitch it for her.  It's going to a No-Kill Animal Shelter for a fundraiser.

She sent me the chart and the only information on it was 2017 Axebe. It's stitched on 14-count gold dusted Aida as charted with the called for DMC threads.  It's much brighter in person.

I've finally got the hang of timing my stitching and it took approximately 12 1/2 hours to stitch, most of it using black floss.  Although it took almost two weeks, I didn't stitch on it everyday--life keeps getting in the way of my stitching!

Wednesday Update - 4/24/2019

It's Wednesday again and time for the next Wednesday Update.  I worked on four projects, starting two new ones and finishing one of them.

I continued working on Eagles which is my "stitch every day in April" piece.  Again, I've managed to do that, although I almost didn't make it last night.  I have moved the hoop so tonight I'll work on a new section.
As of 4/1/2019
As of 4/17/2019

As of 4/24/2019

I also continued working on my Fabulous Pineapple, which I started on 4/10, but didn't take a picture then; most of the stitching shown has been stitched since 4/22.  I just have a foot, backstitching and the leaves to finish.

My start and finish was Angelic Doodle from dailycrossstitch.com.  I stitched this for Quilts for Older Children and Adults for their annual Valentine Mystery SAL.  The squares will be going to Love Quilts Brazil.  This was supposed to be stitched in three shades of gold, but some of the other stitchers had changed the colors and I decided to do that, too.  So, it's stitched as charted (except for the color changes) on white 14-count Aida with DMC floss.

Started: 4/18/2019  Finished: 4/22/2019

My other start, which is now a WIP is the April square from Palko Lap.

Wednesday Update - 4/17/2019 on the 18th

I'm actually a day late this time, because I knew I was going to have two finishes last night and wanted to be able to post them this week.  I think I'm back to my normal stitching routine at the moment, but I'm very behind on my monthly pieces and blog posts.

My first finish was the Anemone, a free blackwork SAL on Facebook and her blog by Leslie Teare.  Part 12, the final backstitching was posted yesterday so I finished it last night.

It's stitched on light blue 14-count Aida as charted with the called for DMC I'm not sure how I'm going to FFO this yet, but I think I might stick it in a hoop.  It's got petite black beads on it so it can't be a quilt square.
Started:2/4/2019  Finished: 4/17/2019
My second finish is a Jack Russell Terrier by Durene Jones.  This was the Pet of the Month from World of Cross Stitching #266.  It's stitched on 14-count white Aida mostly as charted with the called for DMC.  I left the backstitching around the border off because I didn't think it was needed.  The backstitching was the fussy type that includes 1/4 and 3/4 back stitches so some of those might not be exact and there is one error in it that I decided to ignore.
This is part of the Dogs SAL for a lap quilt for Quilts for Older Children and Adults.   It's been my focus this week since it's due in Pennsylvania on  or before May 1st.

Started: 4/12/2019  Finished: 4/17/2019
Since stitching at least one stitch a day on Big Trees for the month of March was a success, I decided to do it again in April with a different project.  This is Eagles by Dimensions and is being stitched for both the Year Long Dimensions SAL on Cross Stitch Frog Busters and YOW 2019 at Soulful Stitches.  Of course, I'm stitching more than one stitch every night, usually managing 15-20 minutes before bed.
As of 4/10/2019
As you can see in the picture below, there is a two column error that has occurred because I miscounted the first row.  Since it's all sky, I'll compensate for it when I stitch the next portion.

Happy Dance - Birthday Bear

Started: 12/30/2018
Finished: 1/1/2019

This little guy is one of the 101 Personality Bears.  It's stitched as charted on 14-count white Aida with DMC floss.

This is for part of the 2019 Stitcher's Challenge at Q4OC with the squares going to Binky South Dakota.   I was assigned the Birthday Bear by the group's owner and her granddaughter and I'm very happy with their choice.

Happy Dance - Cat

Started: 12/24/2018
Finished: 12/29/2018

This was a SAL in Quilts for Older Children and Adults in memory of Terri D who passed away earlier this year.  The chart was provided by the groups owner.  It will be going to Love Quilts Brazil.

It's stitched on 14-count white Aida with DMC 4068 (Camouflage).
