Cat is a DMC kit that I think was designed by Leslie Teare. 

It's stitched as charted with the provided Aida and DMC floss.

It will be put into the hoop provided and given to my granddaughter for her birthday the end of March.  This was an impulse purchase that I planned to make for her for Christmas, but didn't even start it until this month.

Now that I've finished all of my owls, I thought you'd like to see them altogether before I add my name/state and mail them off to WOCS (World of Charity Stitching) to be made into a quilt to be given to either a senior care facility or a Ronald McDonald House, most likely in Florida.  Oops, I just noticed that I need to add the border to the June owl as well.

Weekly Update - 1/21/2021

There was one day this week where I didn't stitch, but the rest of the week made up for it.

My project on Q-Snaps for the week was Blackwork USA from Peppermint Purple.  It's being stitched on 14-count white Aida as charted with the called for colors.  This is my Year Long Project on Cross Stitch Frog Busters and was a new start on January 15th.

 

Next, I finished the December Owl.  This was part of a free SAL from Leslie Teare on Facebook in 2019.  I believe you can now buy the complete set on her website or on Etsy.

It's stitched on 14-count Lite Oatmeal Aida as charted with the called for DMC except that I used 498, 321 and 666 instead of the called for 347, 349 and 351.

It will be going to the World of Charity Stitching Group (WOCS) along with the other owls to be made into a quilt.

Once that was completed, I restarted the September Furry Tales Mouse aka An Apple for Teacher and/or Back to School Mouse.  I purchased this one off Lucie Heaton's website since I didn't have a suitable chart in my stash.

It's being stitched on white 14-count Aida as charted with the called for DMC except that I couldn't find my 3325 so I substituted 995 and 996 for the called for 3325 and 3755 in her dress.

Finally, I pulled Santa Jingles out of my Mill Hill Mania box and finished his hat, except for the jingle bells which I'll add when he's finished.

 My plans for the coming week include finishing Day 1 of the 12 Days of Christmas, the September Furry Tales Mouse and Santa Jingles.  I'm not sure what I'll replace them with yet.

Weekly Update - 1/7/2021

All of my stitching this week has been on 2020 Christmasitis starts.  The first project I've been working on is 12 Days of Christmas from Ursula Michael.  It's stitched on white 14-count Aida with the called for DMC.

Unfortunately, there's a mistake in the left border and since I started the interior of the square from the border, it all has to come out along with part of the border. Although the plan was to put this up after one week,  after some consideration, I decided to continue working on this for another week .

The next project I worked on is the December Owl from Leslie Teare's 2019 Facebook SAL.  It's stitched on 14-count Fiddler's Lite with DMC floss.  The reds have been changed to 498, 321 and 666 from 347, 349 and 351, but the rest is the called for floss.

Finally, I worked on and finished the Hodgepodge Stocking with the Christmas lights.

 It's stitched on brown perforated paper with some of the called for DMC.  I did not stitch it as charted and the easiest way to show what I changed is to show you what the original should have looked like.

My plans for the coming week include continuing to work on 12 Days of Christmas for the coming week, continuing to work on December Owl until finished and working on Blackwork Candle, another 2020 Christmasitis start..

This is the 8th owl in the series from Leslie Teare's 2019 Facebook SAL.  It's stitched on 14-count Fiddlers Lite Aida as charted with the called for threads except I used 321 and 666 instead of the 350 and 352 called for (except for the marks on the owl's chest).

As with the other owls, it will be sent to World of Charity Stitching (WOCS) to be made into a quilt.

This is the July edition of Leslie Teare's free Owl SAL on Facebook.  It's stitched on Lite Oatmeal 14-count Aida with the called for threads.  The only change I made was to do the backstitching in 3799 instead of 310.  Oh, and the border was supposed to be stitched in 666.  I also believe that there is at least one unintentional customization, but it's minor and I didn't notice it until I was doing the border.

This will be donated to WOCS with the other owls, hopefully by the end of the year.  I'm very proud of myself for keeping up with this SAL.

This is the June Owl from Leslie Teare's free Facebook SAL.  It's stitched on 14-count Aida in Lite Oatmeal.  It's stitched with the called for DMC except for the reds, for which I used darker shades.  I'm also using 3799 instead of 310 for the backstitch for all of the owls. 

I can't say it's stitched as charted, because I had a lot of trouble with the head and neck and there's still one major mistake, but I was so frustrated with it that I decided to leave it since it would take a lot of frogging to fix it and I didn't know what I'd done wrong to begin with.  Again, this will go to WOCS when the set is completed.

Happy Dance - A Few Finishes

I just realized that since I didn't post any Wednesday updates in June, I missed posting some of my finishes, so I'll post them now.  I think you've seen them all, but I haven't shared the details.

First is the May Owl from Leslie Teare's free Facebook SAL.  It's stitched on 14-count Aida in Lite Oatmeal.  It's stitched as charted with the called for DMC except for the reds, for which I used darker shades.  This will go to WOCS (World of Charity Stitching) and is one of my favorites!

I also stitched the Palko Lap SAL squares for May and June.  May is stitched on 25-count Lavender Lugana with DMC Color Variations 4260 and June is stitched with on Pink Blush 25-count Aida with DMC Coloris 4507.  I did stitch the borders on these two with two strands of floss because I felt one strand didn't show well enough so now I'm planning to go back and restitch the borders on the first four.  Fortunately, the frogging should be easy!

Wednesday Update - 5/15/2019

I had a really good stitchy week this time and got quite a bit done on all of the projects I worked on.  I stitched on three projects each day which hasn't happened in quite a while. My mindset has changed  to I only have to do one stitch for it to count.  I've never done only one stitch though and usually managed to stitch for about a half hour to an hour on each project.  .

I had two finishes this week  My first finish was the April Owl from Leslie Teare's free Owl SAL on Facebook.  It's stitched on 14-count Lite Oatmeal Aida with the called for DMC.  The leaves were supposed to be striped, but it felt too busy to me, so I changed them to be solid colors using the green floss in the umbrella.  This will be sent to WOCS with the rest of the owls when completed.

My second finish was Dashing through the Snow by Lucie Heaton in the 2018 JCS Ornament Issue. This is my April ornament for the JCS Ornament SAL on Facebook.  This isn't the chart chosen by the group, but I had trouble enlarging that chart so I chose this one as a wildcard instead.  It's stitched on 14-count gold dusted Aida as charted, except that I used all different colors.  It was charted to be all in red and white on a pale blue fabric.

I continued stitching on my Monogamous Monthly chart, Tinkerbell from the Art of Disney. Since I didn't want to take it off the Q-Snaps just to take a picture, I'm only showing the current week's stitching instead of the whole project.  The color is truer in the second picture.

I also started two more projects that should, hopefully be finished next week.   After finishing my April Owl, I immediately started on the May Owl.  I really like this one.

And immediately after finishing Dashing through the Snow, I started my May ornament for  the JCS Ornament SAL  This is Red Borders by Elizabeth's Needlework Designs from the 2018 JCS Ornament Issue.  It's being stitched on 14-count gold dusted Aida with DMC 4518.

Wednesday Update - 4/17/2019 on the 18th

I'm actually a day late this time, because I knew I was going to have two finishes last night and wanted to be able to post them this week.  I think I'm back to my normal stitching routine at the moment, but I'm very behind on my monthly pieces and blog posts.

My first finish was the Anemone, a free blackwork SAL on Facebook and her blog by Leslie Teare.  Part 12, the final backstitching was posted yesterday so I finished it last night.

It's stitched on light blue 14-count Aida as charted with the called for DMC I'm not sure how I'm going to FFO this yet, but I think I might stick it in a hoop.  It's got petite black beads on it so it can't be a quilt square.

My second finish is a Jack Russell Terrier by Durene Jones.  This was the Pet of the Month from World of Cross Stitching #266.  It's stitched on 14-count white Aida mostly as charted with the called for DMC.  I left the backstitching around the border off because I didn't think it was needed.  The backstitching was the fussy type that includes 1/4 and 3/4 back stitches so some of those might not be exact and there is one error in it that I decided to ignore.
This is part of the Dogs SAL for a lap quilt for Quilts for Older Children and Adults.   It's been my focus this week since it's due in Pennsylvania on  or before May 1st.

Since stitching at least one stitch a day on Big Trees for the month of March was a success, I decided to do it again in April with a different project.  This is Eagles by Dimensions and is being stitched for both the Year Long Dimensions SAL on Cross Stitch Frog Busters and YOW 2019 at Soulful Stitches.  Of course, I'm stitching more than one stitch every night, usually managing 15-20 minutes before bed.

 As you can see in the picture below, there is a two column error that has occurred because I miscounted the first row.  Since it's all sky, I'll compensate for it when I stitch the next portion.

Wednesday Update - 3/13/2019

I am late posting the Wednesday Updates for the month of March except for the first week which was on time.  I'm posting even though I'm late because this is how I keep track of my progress.

I made a lot of progress this week and stitched on six projects.  First up is the Anemone, the free blackwork SAL from Leslie Teare.  Part 6 was released on Wednesday (3/6) so I'm all caught up again.

I had two finishes this week.  The first was my February Owl from the 2019 free Owl SAL, also by Leslie Teare.  It is stitched on 14-count Lite Oatmeal Aida as charted with mostly the called for DMC.  The reds have been changed and the outline is done in the darkest purple instead of 666.  As with the January Owl, this one will be sent to WOCS to be made into a quilt for a senior in a care home.

I also finished the Palko Lap design for March.  This is also a free SAL from several years ago.  It's stitched on 25-count Mint Lugana with DMC 4047.

I also had two new starts this week, but didn't get much done on either one.  The first was Caroling Cardinals from the 2018 JCS Ornament Issue for the JCS SAL on Facebook.

The second was the March Owl from Leslie Teare's free Owl SAL.

Finally, I continued working on Big Trees which I've chosen to be my focus stitch this month for the WIPacolypse SAL Blog.  I'm supposed to add at least one stitch every day for the month of March.  So far, so good!
