Happy Dance - Angel with Dove

Started: 7/25/2018
Finished: 7/31/2018

This is another ornament from the Crazy for... section in Cross Stitch Crazy #222 which has several charts with the theme of Nativity that were designed by Maria Diaz.

Instead of stitching it on fabric, I chose to stitch it 14-count plastic canvas. The wings and dove were not supposed to be stitched, but since I was using plastic canvas, I stitched the dove in white and the wings in Kreinik #4 braid.  Unfortunately, the sparkles don't show in the photo.

This is my May ornament for the Christmas Ornie SAL where the Carols theme was Hark the Herald Angels.  I know I'm behind, but I'll catch up by the end of the year.

WIP Wednesday - 7/25/2018

I can't believe that it's Wednesday again, July is almost gone and I'm on time again.  I only really worked on two projects this week, but I did manage to stitch every day.

The first was the Karaoke Dragon for Kyleigh's quilt that I finished last night and the second was the 2018 Anniversary Flower that was my rotation piece this week.  It's now half done so it should be a finish in it's next rotation in August.

Happy Dance - Karaoke Dragon

Started: 7/19/2018
Finished: 7/24/2018

This is from the Challenge Lucie section of Cross Stitch Crazy #243.

It's stitched on 14-count white Aida as charted with the called for DMC.

It will be going on Kyleigh's quilt.  Yes, I'm still working on it, because the squares are small--all the designs are less than 3" x 3"--and I keep finding more I want to make.  One of  these days, I'll have to do an inventory and see just how many more I need.

I chose this one because Kyleigh loves to sing and has twice performed in her school's talent show.

I was  working on this at the Angels' game last Saturday and Kyleigh saw it.  She asked if she could have when I finished it, because she thought it was cute.  She didn't realize that it's for her quilt.

Happy Dance - Broken Heart

Started: 7/14/2018
Finished: 7/18/2018

I don't remember where I found this chart, but it was probably a free chart on the Rainbows for Peace and Comfort Facebook page before they removed them.  It was hand drawn on graph paper, but was easy to follow.

It's stitched on 14-count white Aida with the rainbow colors requested by the group. (321/740/444/700/995/208).

As soon as I stitch a couple more squares, this will be going to family members and  first responders of the Pulse Night Club disaster in Florida.  The Group, Rainbows for Peace and Comfort is also stitching in memory of victims of other attacks, the recent church shooting in Texas and the Las Vegas concert shooting being two of them.

WIP Wednesday - 7/18/2018

Hey, I remembered to post on Wednesday this week; it's only 5:45 p.m. here in southern California.

I did most of this stitching once the weekend arrived though.

First, my rotation for this week was Santa Quintet from Dimensions which I started for a SAL on Cross Stitch Frog Busters, but I'm so far behind that now I'm just stitching it for fun.
As of 4/18/18
As of 7/16/18
After I finished my rotation for Santa Quintet, I started a flower for the 2018 Anniversary SAL at Quilts for Older Children and Adults.  This is only one day stitching.  It's a free chart from Cross Stitching Guild on Facebook by Michael Learned.  It definitely won't be the last chart I stitch by her.

My small pieces this week were the Fabulous Banana that I finished on Friday and Broken Heart which I'm stitching for Rainbows for Peace and Comfort.  The chart was hand drawn on graph paper, but I don't remember where I found it.

Happy Dance - Fabulous Banana

Started: 7/4/2018
Finished: 7/13/2018

This is another of the Fabulous Fruit in the Crazy for ... section of Cross Stitch Crazy #192.   It was designed by Jenny Barton.

It's stitched on white 14-count Aida as charted with the called for DMC.

I've stitched four of these little guys now and there are another six to go, but they're enjoyable stitches and are usually my travel projects.  This one went to a Southern California Stitcher's Get Together and an Angels Game.

WIP Wednesday - 7/11/2018

Not too much stitching went on this week.  I did finish my rotation on Big Trees though.
As of 7/4/2018
As of 7/11/2018

This shows the entire width of the project, but it's only about 1/3 completed.

I also started Santa Quintet, but there hasn't been enough progress made to post an update.

WIP Wednesday (on Thursday) - 7/4/2018

I completely forgot about yesterday being Wednesday until I read someone else's WIP Wednesday post, what with all the excitement and celebrating so I'm a day late this time, but I do have something to show.

After finishing the Summer Holidays Mouse, I started the Fabulous Banana, but didn't get much done on it.  The space in the middle of the yellow is his/her mouth.

I also continued with the next piece in my rotation which was Big Trees.
As of 6/30/2018
As of 7/4/2018
I've changed my rotation a bit.  Instead of working on each project for a week, I'm going to do 1000 stitches this time around and see how that works.  This is because some days I can stitch more than others so some projects are progressing faster than others.

Summer Holidays Mouse

Started: 6/29/2018
Finished: 7/4/2018

This is the Summer Holidays Mouse from the World of Cross Stitching magazine, issue unknown.  It's part of series called Furry Tales and designed by Lucie Heaton: there's one in every issue of this magazine.

It's stitched on 14-count white Aida as charted with the called for DMC floss.

It's the first of a bunch of these squares that I hope to stitch and make into quilts.  Each square on the first quilt will be a girl mouse and each one will represent a different mouse.  This one is for August.

June Photos

Janice and Kyleigh and the Girl Scout Troop went to Camp Sherman for a weekend camp.  The girls had a good time, but didn't really like the accommodations since they were in the cabins used by the older girls and not by the Brownies.  They also cooked all their meals outside.

Kyleigh is joining POM this year and one of her friends gave her her outgrown uniform.  Of course, Kyleigh had to try it on right away.

Since Janice now works from home, Bobby can keep her company.  Sometimes he likes to cuddle while she's working.

Since her school doesn't allow colored hair during the school year, Kyleigh and some of her friends like to add color to their hair during the summer.  Last year was pink; this year is blue.  I know it's kind of hard to see with the shirts she's wearing.

One day I took Kyleigh to Michael's for their craft and afterwards we went shopping.  Kyleigh had a list of things she wanted to get, because she'd seen some stuff on You Tube she wanted to make.  Here is the result of that shopping trip.

This next is just a silly picture of Kyleigh in her Nonie's car.  I think she's been swimming and she does have a smile on her face.

This next is a new selfie at a recent Angels game.  Kyleigh's had the shirt for several years, but she's finally gotten big enough so that she can actually wear it.

June Recap/July Goals

I tried something different this month and set stitching goals.  I didn't complete them all so there are a couple of carryovers, but I'm pleased with my progress.

The first set of goals applied to my large projects, the one I need to stitch on my stand with Q-snaps.
The Valentine Heart was a finish.

The February Cottage was also a finish.
Tinkerbell was here as of 3/21/18 and I wanted to add approximately 500 stitches.
Tinkerbell ended here on 6/24/18.
Hattie Hedgehog was finished on 6/30/18.

For my smaller projects that I can stitch in hand or with a hoop, I finished three of the five.

Dream Big was finished on 6/12/18.
Fabulous Raspberries was finished on 6/18/18.
Rainbow Fish was finished on 6/28/18.

Summer Holidays Mouse was started on 6/29/18, but has not yet been finished.
I started with nine goals for the month and completed seven of them.  A finish of Summer Holidays Mouse and the start and finish of a Christmas ornament were the two incomplete goals.  All in all, I'm pretty happy.

I stitched on eight projects this month including four starts and six finishes, bringing my total number of finishes for the year to 23.  I stitched all but one day in June.  On the 22nd, I did my volunteer shift at the Ronald McDonald House and then attended the Christmas in June Angels game that evening which meant no time for stitching.

My goals for my large projects in July are to finish ~1,000 stitches on each of the following projects:
Big Trees
Santa Quintet
2018 Anniversary SAL Flower (new start)
Tinkerbell Spring Blossoms

and finish Advent Animal #11.  If I finish early, I will add Ariel by Aurora CS.

My goals for my smaller projects are to finish:
Summer Holidays Mouse - carried over from June
Angel with Dove - my May Christmas ornament; carried over from June, but not yet started
Broken Heart - a square for the Rainbows for Peace and Comfort Facebook Group
Dragon Doing Karaoke - a square for Kyleigh's quilt
Fabulous Banana

Happy Dance - Hattie Hedgehog

Started: 5/1/2018 (As part of Maynia)
Finished: 6/30/2018

This is the 5th day of Brooke's Books Advent Animals free chart series.  It's stitched on 14-count Misty Blue Aida with the called for DMC.  It is also stitched as charted except that when it called for three strands of floss, I only used two.
